Burghley class - Year 3
Welcome back to Summer Term 6, our final term in Year 3!
Welcome back Burghley Class as we embark on our final term in Year 3.
I hope everyone managed to have a well-deserved break after our incredibly busy Term 5. We were able to display all that we have learned with our Class Assembly and of course the May Dance, where we danced to entertain everyone.
It has been great to see so many of you have kept up with using Accelerated Reader during half term. Don’t forget that you can do quizzes online at home once a reading book is finished. It is important that these are completed independently and I look forward to seeing your continued progress through the Summer Term. Congratulations to those using TT Rockstars to practice your times table knowledge, the more you practice the more confident you will become.
Our theme for Summer Term 6 is 'Extreme Earth’, we will be exploring the physical geography of volcanoes and earthquakes and the reasons behind earthquakes and where they are most likely to occur. In Science, we will learn about the forces of push and pull and explore how magnets work. We will also be creating our own 2-page pop-up information book looking at mechanical systems; Levers and linkages. With Sports Day fast approaching, we will be doing lots of practice preparing for this event as well as children developing their cricket skills.
To see what we will be covering in Term 6 please take a look at the Medium Term Theme Plan for Parents below.
Stay Informed with Knowledge Organisers
To keep you well-informed about the subjects and topics your child will be delving into, we will regularly update knowledge organisers on Class Dojo. These organisers will provide an overview of the learning activities and objectives happening in our class. We encourage you to take advantage of these resources to engage in discussions with your child, as this engagement will aid in transferring knowledge to their long-term memory.
Summer Term 6 Overview
For more detailed information about the subjects and areas of study covered this term, please refer to the Spring Term overview provided below. This document contains insights into all the exciting learning opportunities we have planned for your child.
Cultivating a Love for Reading
We strongly believe in the power of reading and its ability to inspire and educate. In line with this belief, we kindly request that your child engages in reading activities at least four times a week. Please make a note of these reading sessions in their reading record. This practice will not only enhance their reading skills but also foster a genuine love for reading.
Stay Connected with Class Dojo
We will continue to utilise Class Dojo as a platform to keep you updated on your child's learning journey. This space will also serve as a means to communicate essential messages and reminders. We encourage you to 'Like' and comment on the posts, as your engagement further supports the classroom community.
Contact Information
I am eagerly anticipating the opportunity to work with your child to nurture their love for learning. Should you encounter any challenges or have enquiries, please feel free to get in touch with me at R.Thorpe@ryhall.pdet.org.uk. Your involvement is greatly valued and contributes to the success of our classroom.
Here's to a term filled with exploration, growth, and memorable learning experiences!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Thorpe
